The new zero-bail policy takes effect in L.A. County on Saturday, but the controversial law is causing a stir amongst residents and law enforcement officials alike. The policy would allow some criminal suspects with non-violent or non-serious crimes to be cited and released when they would have previously been held on bond. A decision was made in July by the Los Angeles County Superior Court to institute the system, but less than 24 hours after the policy was made law, there was already controversy.  Video shows thieves ransacking Nike store in Southern California Court papers submitted to the L.A. Jrue Holiday being traded to Boston, AP source says, as Portland continues making moves

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 07:32:24 GMT

Jrue Holiday is being traded to the Boston Celtics, a person with knowledge of the agreement said Sunday, a move that comes just four days after being sent to the Portland Trail Blazers in the deal that sent Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks.Holiday goes to the Celtics in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams and two future first-round draft picks, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade has yet to be approved by the league.ESPN first reported the agreement.Flipping Holiday for Brogdon, Williams and more draft capital means the Trail Blazers have turned Lillard into four players (with Deandre Ayton and Toumani Camara also included as part of Wednesday’s deal), three first-round picks and two pick swaps. That’s a strong haul for Lillard, the seven-time All-Star who was officially welcomed to Milwaukee by his new team on Saturday.___AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBASource

Ryder Cup in Rome stays right at home for the Europeans. The US loses its seventh straight in Europe

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 07:32:24 GMT

GUIDONIA MONTECELIO, Italy (AP) — Europe won back the the Ryder Cup on Sunday, just like it always does before its raucous crowd, with Rory McIlroy leading the way and Tommy Fleetwood delivering the decisive point to extend its dominance over the Americans on home soil. The outcome was never seriously in doubt at Marco Simone. Europe started the final day with a five-point lead. McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton put the Europeans on the verge of the cup, forcing the Americans to win the remaining five matches on the course.Just like everything else this week, there was little chance of that.McIlroy was still fired up over what he perceived to be bad behavior by Patrick Cantlay’s caddie on the 18th green the previous evening. He won his match to cap a 4-1 week and was Europe’s top scorer for the first time in the Ryder Cup.And then Fleetwood hit a signature shot on the signature hole, a drive to 25 feet on the reachable 16th. Rickie Fowler hit into the w...
