NANTES, France (AP) — A tournament-ending broken arm to Taulupe Faletau and Gareth Anscombe’s groin injury marred a box-ticking Wales win against Georgia by 43-19 at the Rugby World Cup on Saturday.Faletau was the only forward to have started every Wales game in France at his third World Cup and came off clutching his arm. The No. 8’s absence is a major setback to Wales’ chances in the quarterfinals next week.“We felt he was starting to come back to his best,” Wales coach Warren Gatland said. “He was excellent last week (against Australia) in terms of his footwork and carrying and stuff, taking kickoffs and giving us some go-forward as well. It’s a big loss for us.”“We’ll have to make a decision in terms of how we look at the balance of the back row going forward and in particular for next week.”Anscombe was due to start at flyhalf against Georgia but tweaked his groin while kicking in the warmup and withdrew. The injury was high up, Gatland...

Howie Carr: NIMBY Maura Healey not nearly as ‘distressed’ as her Massachusetts constituents

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:15:45 GMT

If she didn’t really care about being governor, why did Maura Healey run for the job last year?Much like Mayor Michelle Wu in Boston, Maura must have been enthralled with the idea of being the “first” this or that. But now that they’ve made history, or her-story, both of them are like the dog that liked to chase the cars that drove by his house. What happens to the dog when he… catches it?Both Healey and Wu seem checked out, disinterested at best, bored at worst with anything beyond the vapid ribbon-cutting and virtue-signaling.But considering that most Americans have likewise long since checked out of Boston, Wu’s disappearance is less of a concern. It’s more significant when the governor appears to have gone MIA from the Commonwealth, whether on her endless junkets or even on those rare days she shows up in the Corner Office. Not that this is a new phenomenon for governors. But usually it takes a term, or at least a couple of years, for the incumbent to become, in Gov. Charlie Baker’...

This was before Jrue Holiday was acquired, but shortly after Marcus Smart was traded. Brown went out of his way to emphasize defense.“I want to make sure that’s where we hang our hats this year and that starts with me, that starts with Jayson (Tatum),” Brown said. “With Marcus gone, we don’t want our defensive identity to go out the door as well, so we have to really emphasize that at the start of training camp.”Brown’s messaging has stayed consistent, and there’s been a clear emphasis on the defensive end to start training camp. He talked at media day about maintaining the energy on defense. So why has Brown felt the need to make improved defense a goal this season? It all started with Smart’s departure.“Before we got Jrue, (I) wanted to make sure we didn̵...
