One of the silver linings of the Rockies’ woeful season got carted off the field Thursday at Coors Field.Rookie outfielder Brenton Doyle crashed into the center field wall in the ninth inning while attempting to rob a home run by Jorge Soler. The ball was in his mitt but Doyle couldn’t come down with the catch as he crumbled to the warning track in pain.Doyle clutched his right leg multiple times while being tended to by trainers before briefly standing up on his own power and getting carted off. After the game, Rockies manager Bud Black said Doyle has a knee contusion and will hopefully avoid a trip to the injured list.Following Doyle’s exit in the ninth, right-hander Pierce Johnson gave up another two-run homer as the Marlins plated four runs in the inning to tie the game, 6-6.Coming into Thursday’s series finale, Doyle was hitting .239 with four homers and seven steals after debuting on April 24. A mutilated body found in rural Alabama more than 26 years ago has finally been identified as a Southern California man who was missing for years. The body was found on April 15, 1997, along a creek in Union Grove, Alabama, a rural town in Marshall County with fewer than 100 people. Investigators identified the remains as that of a white man, but the body had been brutally torn apart, with his head, hands and feet removed, likely in an attempt to make his identification impossible. The man's death was immediately ruled a homicide, but because of the body's condition, detectives were never able to positively identify him — until now. Thanks to the advancement of DNA technology and years of detective work, the man has been identified as Jeffrey Douglas Kimzy, a Santa Barbara man who disappeared when he was 20 years old.The Marshall County Sheriff's Office said the case never went cold, and detectives pursued dozens of leads, but were never able to get to the bottom of who the victim was....DJ Asi Vidal Is Bringing Israeli Culture To The LA DJ Scene

By Andrew Dalton | Associated PressA Los Angeles County judge on Thursday said she will dismiss a lawsuit that the stars of 1968’s “Romeo and Juliet” filed over the film’s nude scene, which they said involved them being subjected to fraud, and sexual abuse and harassment, when they were in their teens.Superior Court Judge Alison Mackenzie ruled in favor of a motion from defendant Paramount Pictures to dismiss the lawsuit brought by Olivia Hussey, who played Juliet at age 15 and is now 72, and Leonard Whiting, who played Romeo at 16 and is also 72.Mackenzie determined that the scene didn’t amount to child pornography and was protected by the First Amendment, finding that the actors “have not put forth any authority showing the film here can be deemed to be sufficiently sexually suggestive as a matter of law to be held to be conclusively illegal.”In her written decision, she also found that the suit didn’t fall within the bounds of a Cal...California breaks record for renewable electricity

California has hit a new milestone in clean energy, as the state continues to move away from fossil fuels in its decades-long effort to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. In 2021, 37% of the state’s electricity was generated by renewable sources like solar and wind — more than double the 16% total in 2012, according to new numbers released Thursday by the California Energy Commission.More broadly, when nuclear power and hydroelectricity from large dams are included, 59% of California’s electricity now comes from carbon-free sources. The state has a goal of 90% by 2035 and 100% by 2045.Highlighting the trend, Gov. Gavin Newsom appeared in Richmond on Thursday to cheer the announcement that Moxion Power, a company founded three years ago to build zero-emission electric batteries to replace diesel generators, will open a new manufacturing facility at the site of the former Richmond Ford Point Assembly Plant on Harbour Way.
