Interpol Still Arresting Live

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 07:46:26 GMT

Interpol’s dark, melodic sound has remained solid through line-up and label changes that led to tangent explorations over the years. Lyrically they remain one of the most expressive and poetic bands still making music. On last year’s The Other Side of Make-Believe, their seventh album, singer Paul Banks emotes and sounds as enigmatic as ever, making it a record both old and new fans can appreciate. The gloomier aspects of the music made the New York band sort of neo-goth faves when they started out, but they’ve always been more varied than they got credit for and the mature place they’re at now proves it. Live at the Greek, their lush atmospherics and urgent hooks are sure to be as arresting as ever on the new stuff, and hopefully the classics still in regular listening rotation for many of us from Antics and Turn On the Bright Lights.Interpol at the Greek: The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday-Monday, October 29-30. lagreektheatre.com/events/detail/interpol-1    &...

(The exception: a one-point victory at Stanford). Only Oklahoma, Penn State and UNLV share that 6-1 record. But in a separate category, no team is close: The Wildcats are beating the point spread by an average of 10.9 points. That massive average is largely built on a single performance. The Wildcats were 7.5-point underdogs at Washington State and won by 38 points. Also, they were 21-point underdogs at USC and lost by two.And they were 19.5-point underdogs against Washington and lost by seven. All three teams (USC, WSU and Washington) were ranked at the time of kickoff.Which means the Wildcats are 3-0 against the spread when facing ranked opponents — and covered the spread by an average of 25.7 points. This week, they face a ranked opponent, Oregon State. This week, they are 3...
